Hugh Grant Participates in The Economist’s Feeding the World Summit
Monsanto’s Chairman and CEO Hugh Grant joined other leaders at The Economist’s Feeding the World Summit in London today to discuss how to accelerate progress in coordinating efforts to tackle the planet’s food security crisis. Industry leaders, government, donors, aid agencies and the research community explored opportunities to collaborate in delivering improved access to food and nutrition and sustainable agricultural development.

Grant participated in a mainstage interview conducted by Emma Duncan, the deputy editor of The Economist.

“This event is a great opportunity to participate in a dialogue about food, agriculture, sustainability and the future,” Grant said. “Monsantos employees have dedicated themselves to the business of improving agriculture. Because of our expertise in making better seeds, we are seen by many people as the start of the food chain. We believe our sole focus on agriculture is vital as the world looks to produce enough nutritious food to feed a growing global population while conserving, or even decreasing, the use of precious natural inputs such as land, water and energy.”

Attendees were predominantly from the United Kingdom and European Union and represented a cross section of the business, non-profit and government communities from the region.
