Corn and soybean conditions unchanged

Here are the good/excellent conditions in the top five corn producing states: Iowa (78%), Illinois (82%), Nebraska (87%), Minnesota (78%), Kansas (50%). The conditions did fall three points in Kansas and one point in both Iowa and Minnesota.

Soybean conditions are holding their own as well. The crop progress report shows 70% of the soybeans are in good/excellent condition. The same as last week.

So far, here are the good/excellent conditions in the top five soybean producing states: Illinois (75%), Iowa (77%), Minnesota (75%), Nebraska (85%), North Dakota (82%). Only three states showed a slight decrease in condition: Illinois (-3%), Minnesota (-1%) and North Dakota (-2%). However, Iowa showed a huge increase in condition, going from 68% last week to 77% this week in good/excellent condition.

Corn silking

The crop progress report shows 91% of the corn is silking, that’s 9% higher than the four-year average of 82%.

Top silking states include Illinois and Missouri with 100% and Iowa with 96%.

Corn dough

The amount of corn in the dough stage is almost double the four-year average. The report shows 38% of the corn in the dough stage, up from the four-year average of 20%.

Missouri and Illinois are leading the way. Missouri reports 73% and Illinois reports 64% of the crop in the dough stage. Others were noting are: Indiana (34%); Iowa (31%); Ohio (26%); and Minnesota (23%).

Soybeans blooming

Report shows 86% of the soybeans are blooming, that’s up 9% from the four-year average of 77%.

In the Midwest, most states are above the 75% mark for blooming: Illinois (92%); Iowa (90%); Minnesota (88%); Nebraska (87%); Ohio (86%); Indiana (85%); Wisconsin (79%) and Missouri (78%).
